Back in July The Square Cow hosted Steve Knightley (one half of the highly acclaimed folk duo Show of Hands) who was in Wickham to rehearse his Song for Wickham.
Steve had been asked by Nicki Oliver, the Parish Clerk of Wickham and Knowle Parish Council, to write a song about Wickham for the upcoming Wickham Festival.
Nicki got a backing choir of local people together ready to appear at the Festival alongside Steve. Having spent time rehearsing with the choir, Steve performed at the pub and a collection was made for the food bank.
We are extremely grateful for the incredible donation we have received and wanted to thank the team at The Square Cow (who have also helped us in the past), Steve and everyone who contributed.
Demand on the food bank is increasing and the money raised will help us buy in food items we need when our stocks run low.
