Philspace helps solve storage space shortage

Philspace helps the food bank with some temporary storage space.

During lockdown we had been using the main hall of the Youth Hall to cope with the huge level of food donations and organise food parcel deliveries.

With the relaxation of lock down rules, the Youth Hall is now in use again and we were asked to vacate the main hall.

The idea of a using a container to store the additional food is an option we had explored previously. When Terry approached Philspace, they were very happy to help us at a much reduced rate.  They even came and inspected the site to make sure the container would fit okay. Thanks are also due to Tom of Country Homes who has allowed us to site the container on land he owns in front of the old NHS physio centre.

Ultimately this is a temporary solution as Country Homes hope to redevelop the whole site, including the building occupied by Fox’s Garden Machinery and the Youth Hall.  We will probably need a new home by Christmas but that is another story.

The video below was put together by one of our volunteers who supervised the arrival of a storage container.  The container is now being used for long shelf-life stock.
